Ben Munson, LPC

Ben enjoys providing therapy to couples, families, and individuals, ages 12 and up.

Ben Munson has worked in the Lane County mental health field in one form or another since 2009. He has been drawn to the counseling profession from a young age due to being enamored with the concept that we can build control and mastery over our thoughts and feelings and build a sense of healing around our identity and experiences. Ben has experienced great joy and reward at both observing and being a part of the treatment of those engaging in therapy services and creating a growth in boundaries in skills for navigating life’s obstacles.

Ben has a preference for engaging in therapy that utilizes Narrative Therapy and DBT concepts. He is interested in the story of an individual’s life and how our experiences and our responses to them shape our internal story and sense of self. Ben has found DBT incredibly valuable as a set of tools to build an understanding and awareness of our thoughts and feelings and what forces push use to do the things we do! Ben enjoys work that focuses on relational concepts of boundaries within ourselves and with others. He has experience in addiction counseling and group counseling for addiction issues and Seeking Safety. Ben strives to ensure that treatment planning and service engagement is tailored to the individual and their personal goals.

Ben holds a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Oregon and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bushnell University. Ben holds a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II through the state of Oregon. His counseling lens focuses on Systems Theories, narrative therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Motivational Interviewing. For clientele, Ben has experience working with individual, couples, families, and groups.
