Garrett received a bachelor of science in general social science from the University of Oregon before graduating Bushnell University with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Garrett is a Registered Associate on his way to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He has received training in multiple evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), with a special focus on suicide prevention in each modality.

Garrett’s primary areas of focus include: mindfulness, emotional regulation, neuropsychology, and trauma. He has experience co-facilitating groups, including those that serve as anger-management treatment and domestic violence prevention. 

Garrett considers himself first and foremost a person-centered treatment provider. Treatment with Garrett is structured through the beliefs, motivations, and individual historical experience of his clients. Within this framework he utilizes a variety of orientations depending on the needs and preferences of clients. Modalities that are integrated in Garrett’s approach include: CBT, DBT, narrative therapy with an ACT focus, various strength-based formats for trauma resolution, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy with a focus on empowerment and self-authorship.  

Garrett is passionate about physical health and wellbeing. He is highly focused on expanding, utilizing, and promoting the most contemporary knowledge on nutritional wellness, exercise, and performance. He and his wife are proud to be dedicated parents of two kids and three dogs. Garrett is always looking to engage content that expands his awareness with specific focus on neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, philosophy, and sociocultural issues.
